2. Reduce damage without creating a hazard
Move furniture and valuables away from the water if possible. Use towels or containers only where the floor is safe to walk on. Photograph the source and affected areas for your records, but do not delay urgent isolation to document the damage.

Call promptly when water is actively escaping, the pipe cannot be isolated, ceilings are bulging, sewage is involved, or water is near electrical systems. A recurring loss of pressure or wet patch can also indicate a concealed pipe failure.
